What is EmuPack?
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
The main goal of EmuPack is to create an out-of-the-box
solution for all your classic gaming and computer emulation
needs. EmuPack is a collection of emulators for various
console game systems and computer platforms.
The installer will install file icons, file associations, and start
menu icons along with the emulators included in this package.
The software supplied is freeware, open source, and or GPL
(General Public License) and is intended for historical and
educational purposes. Emulators help preserve many historical
games and "classic" gaming from disappearing as the
technology that these games run on is no longer available.
You can customize your installation of emulators by either
installation type, or by selecting file types, consoles or platforms.
EmuPack includes the option to install 'My Roms' folders for
storing your roms on your computer or on your network
using these personal or network accessable folders.
Optionally, you can also install links to information through
Wikipedia onto your EmuPack start menu folder.
Now EmuPack even has its own optional Shell Folder icon
in 'My Computer' for easy access.
The emulators that come with the EmuPack installer also have
updated emulator libraries and components. Some emulators
install with a supplied default configuration either by registry
or a supplied INI configuration files.
Lets not forget that EmuPack is just an installer and that at the
core of EmuPack is the collection of emulator software and
technology, the real credit should go to the many people who
have invested their time and money in the development of the
emulators supplied by the EmuPack installer.
EmuPack is available in 32-bit and 64-bit versions.

64-bit Support
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
64-bit emulators will only work on a 64-bit processor such as
amd64, x64, or emt64. You must also have a Windows 64-bit
edition and the 64-bit version of the EmuPack installer.
64-bit is only recommended if you plan to take advantage
of 4GB of RAM or more, or if you are looking to improve
the graphics performance with certain emulators.
You should install the 32-bit version before the 64-bit version
if you intend to use both versions, however uninstalling the
32-bit version will corrupt the 64-bit installation. You may be
prompted to uninstall any previous installations.
The following 64-bit emulators are included in the 64-bit
version of the EmuPack installer :
Dolphin , DeSmuMe , WinImage, bsnes, XRoar, Mini vMac
OpenMSX, PS3, Stella, WinUAE,
and the Microsoft WIM File System Driver
All other included emulators are 32-bit
Support for 64-bit emulators will be added as more emulators
are compiled for the 64-bit Windows platform.

What is emulation and rom image files?
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Emulation is a software program designed to reproduce the
hardware inner workings of a console or system and translate
it so that it can run on Windows.
Roms are files that are digital backup copies of disks, floppies,
tapes, cartriges, memory sticks, CD's, DVD's, media and etc.

Isn't emulation or using roms illegal or piracy?
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
You are allowed to make one single backup copy of these types
of media that you have legally purchased.
Piracy is the unauthorized reproduction or sharing of
copyrighted media. It is illegal to distribute rom files.
If you do not own, purchase, or possess an original media you
are not allowed to keep any rom files that you have or find.
You must supply your own roms and are responsible for
ownership of those roms. EmuPack does not come with any rom
images and only comes with the software necessary to load up
and run each emulator. Do not redistribute EmuPack with roms.
All brand names and logos are trademarks or registered
trademarks of their respective owners.
It is not our intention to infringe any copyrights or patents on any
original games, consoles, or platforms. This is not necessarily a
legal disclaimer of any type, please check your local laws.
If any company or person wants their software removed,
please contact the author of this installer immediately.

Freeware Software
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
EmuPack installer requires Administrative privileges because it
modifies file associations and also installs system runtime files.
EmuPack contains freeware software made third parties and
all its software are freeware, open source, and/or GPL
(General Public License) or Public Domain.
DO NOT PAY for EmuPack. If you paid for EmuPack, you were
ripped off, get your money back.
While every effort has been taken to ensure the programs run
well enough to use with their default configurations, support
for emulating roms may be limited.
EmuPack never comes with any malware and all source files
have been scanned using the latest in anti-virus technology.
Because EmuPack is freeware, there is no support for any issues
caused by the use of the installed software.
Enjoy EmuPack and feel free to distribute it. BUT Do not
distribute EmuPack or its software along with rom files.
SVN stands for Sub Version, which is a method for version
control when developing and updating open source software.
GIT is also a distributed version control system.

Hardware Requirements
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Hardware requirements will vary with each emulator.
As a general rule, an emulator requires better hardware than
the hardware that its trying to emulate.
For most emulators to perform best, any system running
Windows XP, Windows 7 or newer. Vista is not recommended.
At least a 1.4GHZ CPU and 512MB of RAM is recommended,
but may not be required to run lower level emulators.
For example, lower hardware emulation such as Atari 7800
will likely run well with older hardware. But you'll need at least
a Dual Core CPU with 2GB of RAM and a high-end graphics
card to run some of the higher level emulators such as
Nintendo Wii, PowerPC (MacOS), and some PS2 games.

Emulation Configuration
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Not all emulators are alike. Some run differently or not at all on
different hardware and operating systems, and therefore may
not function as expected. Effort has been made to test the
emulators and the components used by them.
Some rom files may not open up directly in an emulator when
you go to run them, however the emulator itself should still run
and then you can load the file from within the emulator. This
may indicate lack of command-line support from the emulator.
Although some emulators are set to certain default settings it
may be necessary to configure certain aspects of different
emulators for the support of controllers, audio, video, file, bios,
and other virtual hardware settings.

Controller Configuration
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Most emulators will allow you to map buttons to your
keyboard, some may require it.
Most emulators also support regular usb controllers in their
default configuration. You may need to adjust controller
configuration to use your controller, keyboard or mouse.
It may be possible to search the internet for USB accessories,
which you can purchase, that allow you to use some of your
original console controllers or controllers with a similar feel.

C++/C, SDL, ZLIB or DirectX runtimes
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
A goal is to include runtime files that are already up to date.
Effort has been made to make all emulators usable from
installation. Emulators requiring runtime files such as SDL or
ZLIB, are installed with them.
Microsoft C++/C runtimes are installed to the system if they
don't already exist on the system. Older files will be updated.
You can customize the installation of runtime libraries.
Other runtimes may be required as needed, such as the
Microsoft .Net Framework. You may be prompted to download
and install these runtimes if the emulator requires it.
DirectX is not supplied with EmuPack, but it may be necessary
to use some emulators or improve performance.
Windows usually has DirectX already installed, but it may not
be up to date. Follow the link below to install or update DirectX
Should you experience any error messages regarding a missing
DirectX file, it is recommended that you update your DirectX.
The latest DirectX can be downloaded free from Microsoft at
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=56511&clcid=0x409

Emulator issues
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Although testing is generally done before each release,
every computer configuration is different and certain
emulation the software may not run properly on every system.
You may need to install more runtime files. Run the installer
again, making sure that the Runtime Files checkbox is ticked.
Some emulators are not fully developed and may only emulate
certain games or certain components of the emulator.
The software may not function exactly as expected.

Whats next for EmuPack?
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Updates to EmuPack are released every few months and
include updates to the emulators included with EmuPack,
fixes to the registry or installation script, and sometimes
new features are added to EmuPack.
EmuPack Live! is a project to produce a bootable CD or DVD
that loads up and presents runnable icons for all the emulators.
By booting up from a CD or DVD, it would be possible to run
emulators without as much overhead from the installed
operating system. This means software installed on the
computer has no effect on the running emulators and none
of the software or roms would have to reside on the computer.
Currently looking for beta testers and programmers, anyone
who can integrate DirectX, nVidia, ATi, sound, and joystick
drivers into the Windows Recovery Environment
(WinPE from Windows 8)
Want to contribute to EmuPack?
Please visit http://emupack.blogspot.com
EmuPack is built using Inno Setup and is an open source project.
If you modify EmuPack.iss and recompile it to fix an issue or to
add a fuction, feature, or other software, it is asked that you
please send this information back to the author so that your
changes can be incorporated into future releases. As well you
will be given credit for your contribution with releases.

Where can I download updates to EmuPack?
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
You can also follow EmuPack releases on the EmuPack Blog
Please visit    http://emupack.blogspot.com
You can find the current EmuPack release on my mediafire
share.   http://www.mediafire.com/?wj7rsozw6b4a6
As always, please make sure to use Antivirus software and scan
the downloaded file before using it. Additionally, you can verify
MD5 checksums with those supplied with the release.

Where is MAMEUI and MESSUI?
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
MAMEUI and MESSUI are no longer included with EmuPack.
This change was for two reasons. EmuPack has become a
large project and we wanted to keep the download size decent.
Also, EmuPack is a collection of several emulators that provide
similair function when compared to that of MAME and MESS
EmuPack Plus! is a seperate planned project that will install
MAMEUI and MESSUI and integrate their icons into EmuPack
